Letters Of Credit

An increase in trade facilitation among many countries has allowed the U.S. to expand its business transactions with other countries. At IBC Bank, we help you facilitate your engagements in trade by offering Letters of Credit (L/C) including:

  • Import or Domestic Letters of Credit
  • Export Letters of Credit
  • Standby Letters of Credit

Foreign Cash Limit Letter

The Foreign Cash Limit Letter informs its customers of new laws in Mexico that limit the amount of U.S. dollars deposited into Mexican bank accounts. In addition, it emphasizes that U.S. law requires banks to understand the source of funds for all deposits made to U.S. bank accounts. The letter specifies steps taken by IBC Bank to implement these rules.

Certification Status

According to U.S. Internal Revenue Service regulations, foreign individuals and entities must provide certification of foreign status every three years. The accreditation requires completing Form W-8BEN (Certificate of Foreign Status of Beneficial Owner) for foreign individuals or Form W-8BEN-E for Entities and providing the bank with a properly executed copy of that document. Accounts not properly certified are subject to a U.S. withholding tax of 30% on the interest income received.
