IBC Bank-Brownsville Awards Scholarships to Area Graduates
IBC Bank - Brownsville honors 10 high school seniors with the A.R. Sanchez, Sr. and Fred W. Rusteberg Scholarships
(July 24, 2020) BROWNSVILLE, Texas -IBC Bank-Brownsville is promoting higher education by awarding a combined $10,000 in scholarships to 10 high school graduates as they embark upon college and a new chapter in their lives.

Rusteberg Scholarships exemplify IBC Bank's ‘We Do More' philosophy and reinforces the bank's ongoing support and promotion of higher education in our community" said IBC Bank - Brownsville CEO and Board Chair Al Villarreal. "These deserving high school seniors are the future business leaders of our community and we are honored to assist them as they pursue their goals in higher education."
IBC Bank - Brownsville began this market-wide community program in 1985 to provide the opportunity for higher education to youth from low to moderate-income households and has awarded over $280,000 in scholarship funds. Born into a humble family, Antonio R. Sanchez, Sr., the namesake of the scholarship award and the founder of IBC Bank, was committed to making higher education available to those interested in improving their lives. Sanchez's unwavering belief in the power of learning lives on in the A.R. Sanchez Scholarship, which is bestowed annually upon deserving high school seniors throughout Texas and Oklahoma. In addition, IBC Bank - Brownsville awarded scholarships in honor of banking veteran and Chairman Emeritus of IBC Bank - Brownsville, Fred W. Rusteberg. Rusteberg has been a key contributor in the development of science, engineering, business and education programs for all citizens in South Texas. He was a charter member and past Chairman of the Development Board for the University of Texas - Brownsville, a member of the Chancellor's Advisory Council at the University of Texas - Austin, and a member of the President's Advisory Council for the University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley.
This year, IBC Bank-Brownsville presented 10 A.R. Sanchez, Sr. and Fred W. Rusteberg Scholarships, each valued at $1,000 across 10 area high schools. Scholarship award recipients included:

In 2020, IBC Bank presented over $120,000 in scholarships to high school seniors throughout their corporate footprint in Texas and Oklahoma.
