(May22, 2023) LAREDO, Texas - IBC Insurance Agency recently honored nine students from area high schools who participated in the 2023 insurance intern program. The National Alliance created the training curriculum for the program allowing them to earn a designation as a Certified Insurance Service Representative prior to beginning the internship. 

This innovative high school program launched at IBC Bank under the direction of Dale Randol, President and CEO of IBC Insurance Agency.  "We are proud to be a part of such a groundbreaking program that provides so many opportunities to young people planning their future careers," said Randol.  "IBC Insurance Agency and IBC Bank intend to continue fostering education and development with more training and career experiences such as this one," he added.  

This group included students from J.W. Nixon, Dr. Leonides Cigarroa and Raymond & Tirza Martin High Schools who started their internship in January of 2022. The students were tasked with completing five training modules including Elements of Risk Management, Insuring Personal Auto, Personal Residential, Commercial Property and Casualty, and Life and Health. The students had to earn a grade of 70 or better on each module to earn their designation and successfully complete the program. 

One of the participants, a Raymond & Tirza Martin High School senior, Sarai Olguin, commented that she realized a program such as this adds value to her life learning experiences.  "This program opens doors for my future goals," she added.   

The final graduation from the program culminated in a celebratory reception held at Commerce Bank on Mann Road this past week.  The students were congratulated and awarded their certificates by Dale Randol and the IBC Insurance Agency staff of Laredo.
